Mom

It’s been a long time, too long, since I’ve posted anything to my friends.  An update. We’re still here!  The weather is getting better. (It’s raining today. But my friend and baker Angelo always said, “we need the rain.”) it’s Mother’s Day this Sunday and we all have mother’s. Mine? The best. So cook for your mom, take her out, call her, whatever you need to do, do it. She’s your mom. Why your here! Hug her hard. Mom, I love you! Laurence.

Easter Week

Easter is the beginning. I’ve said this before. I walked my neighborhood in Manhattan on Palm Sunday early and it seemed as if overnight things were blooming.

I love the Spring despite how short it is sometimes. The days get longer, the light is different and there seeme to be more smiles on everyone’s faces.

Steven Shaw

I only met Steven Shaw a few times. Once at the bakery, he came with his family and friends, another time at the Big Apple BBQ. That first meeting left a strong impression on me. It was that of a man who was passionate about food. He seemed to me someone who wanted to share that with everyone. He did. I know he is at the head of a big table somewhere sharing his favorites. You will be missed.

Beginnings

This Sunday is Palm Sunday. It is to me the true beginning to the year. It’s when I really think about my life, where,  and who I’m from. About the people I love, past and present.

The spring is the beginning. When life comes back. When after a long winter, we take a deep breath and exhale. I am a lucky man. I never forget that no matter how much I yell.  (Oh, I yell, a lot, and loud. but you know that.) I have my good moments, because of the people who love me.  Enjoy your family, your friends. hold them close to you.

There are only…

My mothers father, my grandfather of course, said there are only two people in the world, Italians and people who wish they were! When we eat, we’re ALL italian!

And check out the great head of hair on the both of us! (Hope it lasts for me!)  Me and my long time customer and friend Alberto Palazzo!

You want to make that pizza at home? Come into the bakery and ask! Or email me!
